The priority right

A first application opens a period of 12 months, said "priority period". During this priority period, the rights of the applicant are protected in all the states members of the CUP (Agreement of the Union of Paris). The applicant can in each of these states, during this priority period, file a second application for a patent and claim the priority of the first application. As regards prior arts, everything will take place as if these second applications had been filed at the date of the first application.
